Welcome

"The first peak is the best place to pause and look back, to see if you took the easiest route, to learn the lessons from the climb. And its the best place to examine the terrain ahead, to change your plans and goals, to take a deep breath and begin climbing again."  Michael Johnson

Welcome to Counseling Services! We are a group of five marriage and family therapists with a wide variety of experience and areas of expertise. We value all persons with equal regard and view people as multi-faceted physical, spiritual, emotional, sexual, social beings; we feel it is the integration of these aspects that help us live well.  We believe that counseling should be a place of respect, safety, and process. This is a dynamic where individuals join in relationship with their counselor to explore new ways of being. Based on your stated goals and needs, we look to help with understanding of personhood and relationship with others. Part of our role as counselors/therapists is to facilitate hope that leads to a healing of injuries and a movement toward self fulfillment, which we believe is the ultimate experience of humanity.

We are independent practitioners who have chosen to practice together because of the healthy professional environment it creates and for the unique opportunity it offers our clients. We work with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents on a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, sexual and relationship challenges, abuse and trauma, pre-marital work, launching children, bereavement, life transitions, attachment, parenting, divorce, co-parenting, blending families and much more.

Our work is heavily influenced by systems theory; we believe that individuals are connected in mind, body, and spirit and are part of many systems including spousal or partner, primary family, family of origin, and work, school, and/or church communities to name a few. In working with our clients, opportunities often arise where it is therapeutically beneficial to include more of their system in their counseling process; this is possible and especially beneficial when that partner, sibling, parent, child, or former spouse is also working with a therapist in our group. This allows each party to bring the safety and insight of their own therapist into a setting where, as a group, difficult things are more easily discussed and potential to move forward more easily realized.

Please feel free to explore our website to get to know us better and we hope we'll have the chance to get to know you, as well!
